Dr Matthew Croxford is a colorectal and general surgeon working in the western suburbs. He is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) and General Surgeons Australia (GSA). Matthew is actively involved in teaching and research through Western Health. He is the CSSANZ Colorectal Training Program Director at Western Health.

Matthew graduated with an MBBS from the University of Melbourne in 1992 and completed his surgical training in Melbourne, earning his Fellowship in the Royal Australasian College of

Surgeons. Matthew completed his post-fellowship training in Colorectal Surgery at North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, UK with further training at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden and IRCAD in Strasbourg, France. He has been in consultant practice since 2005. Matthew completed a Specialist Certificate in Clinical Leadership (University of Melbourne) in 2021.

Matthew has particular interests in managing colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, fistulae, haemorrhoids, fissures and pilonidal sinus surgery. He has specific training in laparoscopic abdominal and pelvic surgery. He also provides endoscopy and colonoscopy services.
